Greek/Cretan food & Taverna cafe lounging

After a day of comparative rest, we had a wonderful Greek barbecue meal at the beach taverna at Camping Elizabeth where we are staying with Judy’s Greek friends (in the picture looking out on the beach). The heat wave is a bit suffocating and a couple of swims in the Mediterranean helped a lot. We then made another short shopping trip into Rethmynon, 15 min. from the camp. I had a great time at one of the old town tavernas sitting outside next to the misting fan ,enjoying an iced latte and cheering on the Greek national World’s Cup team to victory over Nigeria, their first win. The tavernas lining the streets all have large flat screen TV’s up and the sounds of the game echo up & down the streets of the old town area as you walk by.
