What Goes Around Comes Around

I landed at Incheon Airport at 830am, completing an erratic circle that lasted two months. My school doesn't need me to be down south for a few days, so I planned to visit my pal Pam for the weekend. I phoned her from the airport, and as it turned out, an old friend from Japan was also visiting though she was heading TO the airport at the same time I would be heading FROM the airport. But we had a quick chat and she gave me instructions on what bus and taxi to use. She assured me it was easy.

I bought a ticket for the place she told me: Dae Ya Dong. They put me on a bus for Dae Hwa Dong, because they didn't know the former. I didn't realize it as I slept peacfully on the bus for an hour, but I was headed to the far side of town. It was like flying into BWI and going to Washington instead of Baltimore. It was like flying into Heathrow and going to Brighton instead of Oxford. It was like Dallas instead of Fort Worth, Buda instead of Pest, Uranus instead of... oh nevermind. It required an 80-minute subway ride to get me back to the general area where my friend lived. Then it was a 20-minute taxi to finish it all off. All told, it was 4 hours from my plane landing to travel the 40km to Pam's. The way things went, I'm not sure I didn't actually land in China.

I won't tell you the name of my misguided friend, but it does contain the letters A-N-N-A and rhymes with bANaNA. She's lucky she was gone by the time I got there...

I've already had a Korean BBQ, watched the X-Files, and found an internet cafe, so I think I'm adjusted well. But soon they will expect me to do this thing called "work", which I'm still not sure about.

Hopefully this journal will continue without problems, but it may be hard to publicly post things like "My boss looks like a Chia Pet." (Maybe be does but I haven't met him.)

Thanks for reading.
