Munneshwaram Kovil

Munneshwaram Kovil is out of the most important four temples for God Shiva, in Sri Lanka. The kovil is a historic one and been built by a Singhala King, more than thousands of years ago. It had been destroyed by protegees in 1500s and renovated later.

The Kovil is located few kilometers off from Chilaw, a major fishing town in North-Western region. Because of the rich lagoon, Chilaw is famous in farming prawns too.You can visit to the beach traveling a short distance less than a kilometer from the town.

Last week we had a visit there. The crew was 8. The youngest was 8 months while the oldest was 80.

The complex was consists with a number of Kovils on Hindu gods. The main Kovil was located at the bank of a tank.
