After an epic two week journey, about 30 hours of bus, combi and taxi time, 60 hours of river boat time, and numerous hours of waiting about, we arrived at our jungle lodge.
Captains Log...´´The jungle isnt noisy - not like i thought it would be. the volume is still the same as the noise levels anywhere else in Peru... but it is the different noises that suprise me. The frogs are the size of melons and honk in an echo. the crickets are a consistent chirp without beggining or end. and every now and again the great boom of thunder rolls over all of it, blocking it all out.
And it is hot. Hotter than i have ever felt. So hot that my whole body seems to sweat from every single pore rendering repelland and sunscreen practically useless. You know that kind of cold (i know you coloradoans and alaskans know it!) where it is cold all the way to your bones, and you think you will never be warm again? It is THAT kind of hot, where my intestines feel like they are actually boiling.´´
