The Ecuador Coast of Manabi Province

2009-09-25, Manta, Ecuador

After a bus trip to the Quito Airport and a flight on Icaro Airlines we arrived in Manta on September 25th.
This portion of the Ecuador Coast, less than 200 miles, is a very small segment of the total coast which stretches for over 1400 miles. There is much more coast to see in Ecuador and we will be seeing more in the coming years while living in Ecuador.
Linda and I with a group of about 30 more people started the Coastal Real Estate tour in Manta. After meeting our realtor, Pilar Davila, we started viewing the properties in the Manta area. We stopped for lunch at OH Mar restaurant in Manta. After lunch we traveled east up the coastline toward San Clemente stopping in Crucita to view some more properties.
In San Clemente, we stayed on the beach at the tropical Palmazul resort for three nights. The Palmazul restaurant has an excellent French chef with a very helpful staff. The Palmazul has Condos for sale for around $89,000.
San Clemente is a very small village with few amenities available. If you would need anything you would travel to Manta about two hours to the west.
We traveled on the next day of the tour further east up the coast all the way to Bahia de Caraquez visiting various properties in small beach communities such as San Jacinto and Bahia.
We had lunch in Bahia de Caraquez at La Piedra Hotel. There were a lot of properties in these areas, a very long day of seeing properties ranging in price from $25,000 to $250,000 which would include single family homes to Condo units, most of them along the beach area.
This is the most enjoyable way of viewing real estate properties because you are with people with the same mindset as you have, all want to see the property of their dreams and want to find out everything about the property. We met some wonderful people and I am sure we will have a few of these people as friends for a long time to come, in fact some of them have already purchased property in Ecuador.
Bahia de Caraquez is located on a bay with the only way of crossing the bay is via car ferry. We stayed on the Bahia side of the peninsula.
Bahia Bay is the location of the winter area for the humpback whales to calve and rest prior to the migration journey back to Antartica for the summer months.
We will talk more about the whales in the next story about Manta.
