| | | Siena | | | | | On October 10th I visited Siena with Ariel on her class trip. They had been learning about social orders in Italy and so when we visited Siena we focused on the 17 sections that make up Siena. These different Tribuns are all very competitive with each other, hence the two horse races a year within the city. One’s tribun is a big deal, it is geographically set up and so it depends on where you are born within Siena. Some families are completely torn between many different tribuns depending on which sibling was born where and where the parents were born. We were even able to go into one of the tribun’s private museums which is normally not open to anyone but those belonging to the respective tribun.
Siena was absolutely gorgeous and it was really neat to see the center where the horse races occur.
