I wish I could upload photos of our current situation. To put it bluntly - we are in Amazon Hell. Just kidding, it is actually really super amuzing and really funny, in a sitcom sort of way. We are waiting in a port to leave down the Amazon river in a ship whose departure time, as far as I can tell from the various sub captains, is somewhere between three hours ago tonight and noon tomorrow. Our cargo? three million peruvians, two americans, one Brit, three giant truck loads of salt loaded by man power alone, and 8 cows. I believe I also saw roosters in cages being loaded as well, but I can{t say for sure. the swealtering heat of the jungle is making me slightly hallucenagenic.

We are sweaty and stinky, and there are beatles the size of apricots. AND our deep Jungle portion of the trip hasnt even begun yet!

Steve and I decided that this was good to do the Not-so-gringo-path towards the end of our journey so we can roll into the Estados Unidos and fall to our knees and bless clean concrete streets of home. This is quite the adventure. .... I believe I am having a good attitude about it, but i still cant believe we are going to float down into the depths of the jungle on a hammock boat with a bunch of Peruvians. Freggin crazy man!

Oh, there are also dolphins in the Rio. I cant remember the spanish word for them ... Berfonas? Befornas? Anyway, they play in the current and eat the fish at dawn and dusk. Apparantly deeper in the jungle there are pink dolphins! go pink!

Next entry: You will know it is me, because I speak English.
