Hi there,
Little switch. Okay quite a change from quiet, calm Mae Hong Son to touristy lively Pai. I can’t say I mind though. It’s nice to have more ‘falang’ (Thai for ‘white people,’ so foreigners really) around as long as it doesn’t last too long. Carly and I are going back on Tuesday via the Pai River. We’re rafting back to Mae Hong Son… How cool is that! We kinda got fed up with the bus. We managed somehow, despite our perfect time planning, to nearly miss our bus on the way here. So with three minutes left we stopped a motorbike driven by a young guy and practically begged him to bring us to the bus station. (Tuc-tuc’s are never around when you need them!). He seemed glad too, so we hopped on. Three adults, sometimes plus a child, on one motorbike is nothing to be surprised about in this country. And I must admit, it is very doable. We tried to give him a few baht for helping us out, but he wouldn’t take it. Thai time… one minute we had 3 minutes left, the other, 7 spare. So the bus hadn’t left, but, of course given our luck that day, there was only one place left. So Carly went and I took the next bus 2 hours later. Enfin we’re here. And we did yoga this morning, something you can’t do in Mae Hong Son.
I have a rather important thing I’d like to have your thoughts on. I have to figure out what I’ll be doing next. My visa is until the 30th of October so whatever I do I have to leave the country that day. I have loads and loads of options, but here the most likely ones: A going to Burma directly, B doing a visa run and spending 30 more days in Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand and go to Burma afterwards, C going to Laos although I only have to be there on the 21st of December, D flying to Vietnam and start travelling in the other direction (if you know what I mean), E any ideas? China or India maybe?
Love, lot
