my day yesterday was going so good; and with that i mean sooooooooo good... i was reading, writing and being happy with little things... but you know that moment when -in the blink of an eye- everything turns to be so uncomfortable and unknown?!? well, that moment for me was on our way back home, when i learnt from ruby that the company was thinking of moving me to tema!!!

well, actually i already have heard from brenda that the company had plans of cancelling the lease on our current house... but i was thinking that they would arrange something similar to the current situation, because it is pretty logical to do so: three of us working in the same office and living in the same house and getting along pretty well and carpooling to get to work etc etc... soooo moving to tema was nowhere in my mind (tema is, by the way, a harbor city located 20 minutes away from accra)!!!

i felt uncomfortable with the news; just for the fact that they don't ask for our opinion, plus it seems like i am the only one who doesn't have the slightest idea about what's going on and what's going to happen...

and on top of this, again on our way back home, i learnt that cecilia resigned :(( i feel sad, but i hope she will get an opportunity that will make her much more happy... thank god, she will stay in accra; i guess i don't really like departures (other than mine)...

well, luckily there were no other news other than these two :D

after hearing about this moving to tema business, i decided to talk to someone!!! but to whom?!? the whole day today, i was a little confused... and under the stress, i did such a good job on my report (i always work better under stress) :D eventually, i decided to talk to brenda before anyone else -which seemed the most logical thing to do, and indeed it was...

in summary: the company has not reached any final conclusion yet, so everything is in the air!!! according to my contract they need to arrange housing for me, that's why they are thinking of moving me to tema to make transportation easier... but brenda and ruby will be looking for a new place with their own means; and if i don't want to live in tema (which i don't really), i will need to take action too :D things will be clear sometime soon, and i still have hopes that they will keep the lease :D

anyways, today after work we went to an indian restaurant for dinner... it was for one of the employees who is going to uganda for vacation... the whole night was pretty fun :D

at this point, i need to mention ghanaians' passion for football... and tonight was the championship game between ghana and brazil for the world youth football championship... on my side, i didn't even know that there was a championship like that :D

so... wherever there was a tv, people were watching the game: prosba at home, people on the streets, people in shops, waiters at the restaurant!!! everyone!!! until the game was over, we didn't even get a proper service!!! it was funny...

then, the real scene that worth seeing was when ghana won the game after penalties!!! at that moment, everyone just went crazy!!! running on the streets with flags, honking, screaming, dancing, making noise with whatever they find at that moment... being turkish, i am used to these kind of after-the-game events, but i can certainly say: this was something else :D

anyways... after the game was over, everything turned normal... we finally got some food at a point where i thought i was not going to see the end of the night and die starving :D

as of my observations so far, ghanaians are pretty laid back... they get things done eventually, but it takes time... i don't know where else you can see waiters watch a football game instead of serving :D

oh, one more thing: i recognize that "africa" is always mentioned as if it is one single country... but it actually is sooo huge and different... to my surprise again, there were many kenyans in our group tonight :D and i really like to see all the differences in the african continent...

in summary, it was a long long day today, a day with a little bit of everything: confusion, stress, fun, noise, football, good food, good conversation, new people :D

i cannot believe how many different things and events and places and people i got to see/meet in just 2 weeks :D

ciao ciao!!!
