We have been here in Cambodia for 4 days now, though it seems longer as we feel very settled here. Five days ago we were in Chaotic Bangkok and now we are sittling next to a lake in a charming bambo and corrigated iron guest house that sits over the lake. The first few days of being in our little guest house there were very few backpackers, well us and 3 outhers in the lakeside area. Initially this was a little unnerving but we soon grew to love it as the guest house became a home away from home. We had free run of the place, when we wanted a drink we would go to the fridge and help ourselves, when we wanted to watch a film we would just pop on the Tv and choose from the DVD selection, when we wanted to play pool... well you get the idea. As were the only ones here, apart from the friendly staff which consists of a family of 8 including 2 toddlers and 2 pet dogs, we couldnt be more comfortable.. Almost a home.
It was only when we heard a thunderous rumble from the tin roof that it seemed less like home! This thunderous rumble I assumed was the wind pulling away one of the tin panels, I was very wrong. Infact the noise came from two wild monkeys, one the size of a cat and the other twice as big, they were fighting on the roof. Needless to say we were a little taken back by the sight of two wild monkeys in the middle of a city.
We have strangely fallen for this enchanting yet rustic area next to the lake!
