Visiting Angkor Wat was incredible, I was lucky enough to have a good driver, Tuk-tuk or a motorcycle carrying a carriage. Why carriage ?
Angkor Wat is only one of the temples that carry on for miles or kilometers. Siem Reap is located also miles to Angkor Wat and then there are many other temples miles away from each other next to it, like the temple of Angkor Tom featured in the movie "Tomb Raider"
We headed early in the morning and it was a great sunny day. We visited so many temples I was "templed out" or tired. Some of the best parts included:
1) Walking in the bridge towards Angkor Wat and seeing its amazing view 2) Seeing the local people around the ruins fishining, bicycling, & living 3) Visiting a hidden gem area inside one of the gates to Angkor Tom and rediscovering some ruins, a lot of people miss this since they keep going and do not go into the gate, now I know how it feels to be an archeologist when it was dark, damp, and we actually saw some original statues and fragments from the period thousands of years ago. 4) Eating with the driver and talking to the kids, many poor kids in the area it was sad to see them selling and trying to make a living, although if you support them as one guide said you are supporting them being on the streets.
The next day (today) it was raining a lot, as Cambodians same here we have two seasons "wet and dry" but life goes on, people ride their motorcycles with rain gear, and the Cambodian music continues in the background. As one writer put it "the rain cleans the spirit"
