Today, I realized just how much of London I still have to see.
I woke up at 7:15 am, got myself a little breakfast and lunch from the local market around the corner and headed out to the London Eye via tube.
The London Eye gets quite a few visitors, even though it's not summer, this is the time when I lot of foreign students visit with their schools on field trips to London.
So I arrive at 9:15 am, to queue for tickets. While I was waiting, they had this wax statue of Daniel Radcliffe. That made my day. Who needs Madame Tussaud's after that?! I bought this package that included the London Eye, the London Eye River Cruise, and the 4D London Eye Experience. I decide that I'll go on the river cruise later on in the day at 4:45pm, so I can enjoy it before dinner.
The London Eye is pretty amazing, expensive, but the panoramic view of London is breathtaking. There weren't many people seeing the London Eye in the morning (around 10:00am) and so I got to move around the capsule without fighting for space.
Then I went to see the 4D London Eye, which is a pretty big waste of time, but it's 4 minutes long and I had time to spare. What was pretty cool though, was one of the employees there recognized me from the tube that morning and greeted me.
After the London Eye, I decided to run some errands. Getting my phone unlocked for the Orange Network's sim card my cousin sent me, buying a electrical power plug converter (since I forgot to buy one in America), and buying contact solution (because I forgot to pack it).
Then, I head up to the Tower of London. I bought a student package that let me see the Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace for a pretty decent price, around £26. Paid for an Audio Tour (£3 for students), which made seeing the Tower of London so much more interesting. Saw the crown jewels, learned heaps and heaps information, and felt weirded out walking around a place where Anne Boleyn had her head lopped off.
It started raining when I was at the Tower of London. So when I had finished seeing as much as I could at the tower, I headed towards Tower Bridge, to walk across it. But, because it was raining, I couldn't, so I decided to go to Leceister Square and hang around Chinatown for awhile. Then I headed back down early to take the London Eye River Cruise.
Going along the Thames River in that cruise, I realized just how much I still had to see and visit in London. Before I leave for Manchester, I want to at least walk across the Millenium Bridge to the Tate Modern and visit Harrods, Kensington Palace, walk through Hyde Park, The British Museum, Covent Garden, Millenium Dome, The Museum of London, Soho, Westminster Abbey, Euston Square and St. Pauls Cathedral. I still need to visit Hampton Court palace, since I paid for it advance.
Tomorrow, I'm heading for Paris, France! Wish me luck :)
