Here we are on the first day of our second week in Italy.
On Wednesday morning, we left for the train station by 5:00 a.m. When we arrived about 30 minutes later, we realized we were missing our return ticket from Venice to Florence so we had to take a train to Florence where we had to pay another 70 Euro for our return ticket.
We arrived in Venice about 11:00 a.m. and spent the day touring around on the water ferries and doing some shopping. Took a lot of great pictures.
Thursday was a rest day since we didn't get back to the villa from Venice until around 1:00 a.m. The owners of the villa cooked us an authentic Tuscan meal. We started with antipasto (salami, proschutto, ham and chicken liver on bread), bruschetta with tomatoes, basil and olive oil. Then came our pasta course which was rigatonni with meat and tomato. Our main course was grilled steak and grilled chicken with salad and roasted potatoes. Next came our biscotti dipped in desert wine (18 percent alcohol). All in all it was a filled and fulfilling experience.
Friday, we took a trip to Volterra and returned to our villa by mid afternoon. We went to Sam Gimignano for our final meal in Tuscany and came home to pack as we were leaving for southern Italy by 9:00 a.m.
