|  | | Third day of trip (Tuesday) | | | | | Arrived at Rome at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Arrived at Villa in Tuscany at 3:00 p.m. We have been to San Gimignano for a tour around the old city. Yesterday all eight of us took a tour of Florence for the day - an on and off bus. We all got off at Pont DelVecchio and did a little window shopping.
Today George's van broke down in Poggibonsi where we were looking for the train station. We had to call Hertz who sent a tow truck (after about an hour) and when the driver couldn't fix it, he called Hertz and they sent a taxi for us to take us into Florence to get a replacement car. The wait for the cab was about another hour and the drive to Florence was an hour each way. Needless to say, our day was spent either waiting or driving.
We ate in tonight (Tuesday) and are heading to bed early as we are going to take the 6:50 a.m. train from Poggibonsi to Florence and then catch a train from Florence to Venice where we will spend the day.
On the upside, we are having a lot of good wine and food and wonderful weather - average about 26 to 28 each day. The villa is beautiful and has a pool where we can laze around and go for a dip to cool off.
