part of our german bootcamp was to take a tour of the town with one of the history professors. He mostly took us to churches...actually I take that back, he took us to EVERY church in town! But they're all beautiful. We also got to see the site of the old Jewish church which got burnt down by the Nazi's during WW2. There's now a very simple memorial site honoring the 150 Jewish citizens who were transported out of Heidelberg to concentration camps.
We also had a change to tour some of the University of Heidelberg buildings. We ate at the cafeteria (which was not much cheaper than food you can buy on the street), we looked around their science building, and then toured the library. All in all, it was very interesting....lots of walking though! Both of my feet feel like they're about to fall off at this point.
