On Tuesday, September 8th, 2009, the Heidelberg 2009-2010 group departed from LAX. 16 hours, 2 security checks, and 1 lost luggage later, we arrived in the beautiful city of Heidelberg, Germany! I feel like I'm living in a postcard because everywhere I look there is something spectacular to see--The Heidelberg Castle, The Old Bridge, Philosopher's Way, the Hauptstrasse, etc. On Saturday, the group took a boat ride down the Neckar River, which runs through the center of Heidelberg, and we stopped in a town called Neckarsteinach. It was such a clear day and we had a lot of fun walking around the town and visiting it's 4 castles. So far we've explored a new part of Heidelberg each day and it has been so much fun getting to know everyone in the program.
The past couple days have been both overwhelming and exciting. There are definite adjustments to be made and things to learn and my plan is to just take one day at a time. In the words of Mother Teresa, "We have only today. Let us begin."
P.S. I now live in Germany. I've never been happier. :D
