On our first night in Singapore we were exhausted from travelling so negotiated the ‘street workers’ near our hotel and grabbed a couple of Tiger beers and some crisps from the 7 eleven nearby and then crashed out for the night. The next day we headed out into Singapore and to a good travelling shop we remembered to try to replace our cutlery we lost in Heathrow, at the same time Carl spent a great deal of time looking in various electronic shops at notebooks, trying to find a real bargain (that he eventually admitted would be very unlikely). The first part of this was seeing if our e-card for the SMRT (Mass Rapid Transit) picked up during our back packing days still worked. They did but when adding credit we got a message saying that had to be replaced this October, so we will need to keep that in mind for next years visit J. We found the travel shop but no luck replacing our lost cutlery. We spent the afternoon enjoying Tea at Raffles inside the Bar and Billiards rooms, although it lacks some of the grandeur of the usual Tiffin room it was a lot more comfortable and the tea, cakes, sushi, and all the rest was free flowing all afternoon. In the evening we wandered around Orchard road taking in the atmosphere and ate tea in a food court, feasting on rotis and curry sauce. On our third day in Singapore we visited the Singapore botanic gardens. We had a relaxing time strolling around viewing the colourful plants and the terrapins in the lake. It was very hot and humid but still very relaxing. After the garden we visited China Town and took in the odd temple view and priced up the silk-ish goods on offer. We may be visiting again in ten days time when we are back in Singapore. The next day we packed up and boarded our plane for Borneo.
