Our Journey to Gili Trawangan started in Mataram, a very Islamic town, and after struggling to find somewhere for breakfast we – and every other westerner around – resorted to Maccy D’s. Oh the things we do for Ramadan.
Gili Trawangan is a beach island resort just a short boat ride from Lombok and is very popular among aussies. There’s plenty to do here – diving, swimming, snorkeling – but we decided to keep our feet firmly planted on dry land after our previous boating experience! We chilled out on the beach and climbed the hill for some glorious sunsets.
There weren’t many food stalls on the island so food for us became a most decadent affair, particularly breakfast, with fancy sea front restaurants and bars. We didn’t party too hard with the aussies though, we’re saving it for when we get to Australia!
