Yes you might ask what do I mean. I am staying in a town called “Truth or Consequences” in New Mexico. I’m on my way to Silver City to do another trade show or Rock and Mineral Show. The name of this town was originally Palomas after the Palomas doves that love to hang out here. Later it was renamed to Hot Springs after all of the natural mineral springs. I am staying in the bath-house region of town where many old bath houses exist. I’m splurging tonight staying in the cutest little place called the Blackstone Hot Springs. My room is the “Babaloo” Suite with paintings of Lucille Ball, a cute little kitchenette with red vinyl tabletop and chairs and a cute vintage pink refrigerator (even the inside is pink). It has a big comfy king sized bed and an oversize room with hardwood floors, several sitting areas, two tables to sit at, wireless internet and a flat panel TV and best of all a big stone personal tub with hot mineral springs.
The story behind the name of the town is pretty interesting… the host of the popular long-running radio show called Truth or Consequences, offered nationwide publicity to any city that would change its name to "Truth or Consequences." In a vote in 1950, a majority of the citizens of Hot Springs elected to answer Edwards’ challenge.
Next stop Gila National Forest…
