We've been walking all over rome and even had a good meal the other night for the first time since leaving Scotland. From our hostel, the Collosseum is a 15 min walk, and děfrom there u can walk just about anywhere (except the vatican. The Collosseum (or the Arena as some people call it) is pretty awesome to see, but donlt watch gladiator before u see it because there's only about half of the actual collosseum left. Still very cool, but don't expect marble or a lot paint or even seats.
From there u can see the palantine hills and the roman forum, but again u must use ur imagination as there is a lot of ruins...it'd been stripped of all the marble and statues etc..etc...
that night we hit up a pub crawl which meant that....we barely did anything the next day. Saw trevi Fountain and the Pantheon hungover, both were rreally cool.
Observations...
there are a ton of fountains in rome where u can fill up ur water, wash hands, cool off etc...but a lot of them are massive and are located within works of art. i.e. u can fill up ur water from one of bernini's massive sculptures...it's cool.
i love the fountains here.
italians actually bronze in the roma sun...it's tight.
tourists mainly walk with there heads down.
when people pay 5 bucks to see something, they act as if they own the place and try to run over u.
water is still expensive. so is beer at the clubs.
