Kuala Lumpor is a shoppers paradise. They have huge shopping malls all over the city that sell anything and everything you need or want. We spent two whole days wandering around just a select few and bought a dress, two watches and a lap top. After exhausting ourselves with shopping we decided to get back on the tourist trail, starting with the Petronas Towers. They are the tallest twin towers in the world and we were allowed up to the skybridge on the 41st floor, about half way up. The view is excellent but I can't help but wonder what it's like at the top. We visited the National Museum, the Old KL Train Station and Central Market and although we had a nice day we couldn't really see what the hype was about these places. The Lake Gardens were much more our cup of tea. We visited the Orchid and Hibiscus Gardens and the Deer and Sculpture Parks and spent many hours wandering around the scenic grounds. After visiting the National Monument we decided to visit Merdeka Square to see the Sultans Palace and massive flag-pole and we got tear-gassed along the way! There were protests and riots in the city over a safety law that had been passed and the police were out in force with tear-gas. Luckily we only got a little bit and the watery eyes and runny noses were all gone by the time we reached the square... We really enjoyed Kuala Lumpor, it was our little city haven with cheap food and air conditioning before we head out into the wild landscapes of Borneo!
