At the end of the world - again!
After a lovely (and blisteringly hot) week in Buenos Aires, we have retreated to cooler climes of ´Tierra del Fuego´at the south of Argentina.
Usuhaia is a pretty little city/town, in a fantastic setting with a backing of snow capped mountains and glaciers and a mirror still port at the front.
We had a lovely day yesterday and spent the afternoon on a boat cruising in the Beagle channel looking out for all types of wildlife. We say sea-bears, sea-lions and a plethora of different sea birds including cormorants. As we were on a small boat we could get up close to the various islands which was really nice.
We have been gorging ouselves at the numerous all you can eat steak houses. The best ones seem to have half a cow slowly roasting over an open fire in the restaurant window. You pay your 18 pesos (3.60 pounds) and go up as many times as you like to ask the chef to hack off any part of the cow that you particularly fancy! You can then suppliment this with numerous salads, potato and pasta dishes - delicious!
We were going to try to walk some of the food off today, but it is raining! Maybe tomorrow!
Tomorrow evening we are going up the country a bit with a flight to glacier country in true patagonia.
