After a year living abroad, I traveled back to beautiful and serene Indiana. The travel time was a grueling 22 hours with three flights: HK to Tokyo to Minneapolis to Indianapolis. Reverse that for the trip back to HK. My brother picked me up from the new Indianapolis International Airport, which is quite nice I must say. I was surprised to be greeted by my nephew dressed in his traditional Chinese clothing that I bought for him months ago. I can only imagine what the other people in the terminal thought of a young Indiana boy dressed in Chinese clothes yelling my name and running over chairs and tables to get to me. Who cares, it was cute.
I arrived just in time for Independence Day, but was too jet lagged to enjoy it. The fireworks display in Indianapolis ended up being postponed anyway because of bad weather.
Once I made it to Shipshewana, we had a nice family get together and it was good to see the aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. again. I brought along some chopsticks just in case anyone wanted to try some. I basically spent the next week lounging around and forgetting about the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong. It was also nice to meet the new niece and to see the other niece again, knowing that she likes me now.
I spent the last few days in Indianapolis before returning to HK. Overall, it was a nice vacation.
