Day ten
We got up early to have our free breakfast, although it was very basic. After breakfast we walked into town and hired a bike each. We cycled around Amsterdam for about an hour just seeing the sites. Then we visited a local market where they had all sorts of things for sale. After a bit more cycling we hired a pedal-o and went around the canals for an hour. We then tried to find the flower market but every road we went down took us to the same building in the middle of a square, even when we went straight away from it we would somehow end up there again. When it came to dinner time we went to the train station to book our train. We got our ticket with number 934 on it, but the number on the screen was 904. After half an hour it had only reached 914. So we went to burger king in the station for 45 minuets and had dinner. When we got back to the booking office we only had to wait 15 minuets. We had wanted to book a direct high speed train that would only take four hours to get to Paris, but it was fully booked. So we had to book a journey with three trains and taking seven hours. We dropped our bikes off at the youth hostel and then went out to the centre to have a few beers. The bus system in Amsterdam is very high-tech. You get a ticket for an hour and its just a piece of paper but it has a microchip that you scan as you get on and off the buses or trams.
