Our Vacation Bible School numbers were somewhere around 300 kids. We showed up yesterday and were completely overwhelmed with all the kids sitting in chairs waiting for us. We quickly set up and went full throttle. Staci from Bakerfield first was amazing as organizing the whole event. Today we had day two of VBS and after another great time with the kids we were able to do a giveaway with the kids as they left.
Every church brought suitcases of donated items, clothes, toys, candy, soaps, etc and to see their faces light up words fall so short. Myself and Tom another youth pastor waited outside the gated field where VBS was held to make sure the younger kids got home safe, before older kids took their items, but most kids didn't even wait to get home to put on their, new sandles or shoes, or shirts or toys... they were estatic by the simple yet so meaningful items.
It was so easy yet it literally ment the world today for them!!!
Then we quickly came back showered and ate dinner and went to our last night of Youth Convention. They had groups from all over Haiti there to minister with us. We had an amazing time. Everyone was dancing and singing together... The place was packed with people and excitement. What an amazing last night of ministry. Keith from Bakerfield preached his first sermon even and did an amazing job. Go Keith.
Briana was able to attend tonights service so she was definitly a part of all the action as the dancing and singing began. I kept on thanking Jesus that she was back to her great self and part of our team. Cheryl as well was back and enjoyed every minute as she had stayed back the last two nights with Briana to take of her. Thank you Cheryl, what a God thing to have had her on this trip. She told me this morning how much it meant to be able to take care of Briana, her neice, on this trip. She was a complete angel, nursing Briana back to health.
Tomorrow we have church, and Mimi is going to sing and play guitar in front of the whole church and convention. With over 300 kids attending their convention, and them plus their regular church family as well its going to be amazing! Please pray for her as I know she will be a blessing to the Haitians.
All these teenagers here have been amazing. Haley giving her testimony was amazing, Alex, Joe, Mimi doing worship, Briana and Halo with the kids are so natural, Del, Kayanna and Cheryl are complete servants just jumping in wherever needed and never complaining, Ojai has an amazing team!
Its been great as well blending with three other amazing groups as well. The teams took a acouple of days to blend, but nows I don't think you could tell from the outside who is on whose team, we are united!
Thank you posting your messages we read them to the team members and they are so encouraged by them...
