what a day! thursday was a really full day. we were up and in personal/team devotions by 7am, then breakfast. after brekfast we worked on our skits and sorted all the supplies we brought for vbs and for giveaway. we headed to the compound and finished some more work projects in preparation of all the kids coming for the youth convention. as they arrived after lunch we got some games of basketball, volleyball and soccer going. just standing in place here you pour sweat, so playing these games was fun, but tough as well. the air is heavy with humidity and not the same to breathe. all the kids are doing so well. a few have had minor issues: Josh's left eye swelled on the eye lid pretty bad for a couple days, but after some benedryl and lots of water it has gone down. ashley had some stomach issues, but we got her some immodium and she is doing better already. Christopher broke out in some bumps on his face, but nothing serious, it looks like an alergic reaction to something and is getting better too. we came back to the hotel for a quick dinner and change into church clothes and headed back. church started at 7pm and had worship from our team and the haitian team. we had a couple testimonies and the big hit was our skit of daniel and the lions den. when the king had the guards thrown into the den and the lions went to chompin, the haitians cheered loudly and hollared, it was awesome. tom, the pastor from Alta Loma gave a great message and about 3 hours later we finished our first haitian/american worship service. we headed back to the hotel, got in shortly after 10, sent the group to bed and had a short leaders meeting to solidify our plan for the next day, specifically, VBS day 1. Benite originally told us there would be around 200, but yesterday said there will be more like 350 children. we have great leaders over that area, so I know it will go well. right now I am writing to you from inside the tap tap heading to VBS day 1 (Friday). Pray for us to make an impact on these children who God loves so much. Write in the guestbook, I will read them to the team on Sunday night. until next time.
make waves.
