Bs As is still amazing - we are all in love with it. It has a nice mix of European and Spanish culture...reminds me of studying abroad!
Friday night we went out to an area called Palermo, which is just one of the neighborhoods here. We got down there around 1030 to have dinner, just like the locals do....trying to get ourselves on Argentinian time. We found a good mexican restaurant and we still had to wait like 30 min. After that we just went to the downtown area where there are a lot of bars and clubs. We ended up going to a club and didnt get back to our hostel until 730 the next morning. And there were still people there when we left!
Needless to say, Saturday wasnt very productive. The weather was bad anways, it was rainy, so we were fine with it. We got out and walked around a little bit, but just around our hostel neighborhood. We went and saw The Proposal that night - it was so funny! (there is a theater right by us - and the movie was in english)
Yesterday we decided to make the most out of our day since we only have a few left...We knew we wanted to go to the San Telmo Market in the afternoon, so we took a scenic route down by the river in an area called Puerto Madero. It is a fairly new neighborhood with really cute resturants and cafes. We also went to an Ecological Reserve down there - we didnt see many animals, but it was still cool.
The San Telmo Market was awesome...it is famous for having antiques, but they also had a lot of ther booths and art. San Telmo is the old downtown of Buenos Aires, so it is all cobblestone streets and really old buildings. We walked around for a little and then found a little African bar that had live music which we stayed and listened to for about an hour. The main street we took to get home had more booths and drummers and people dancing, so that was fun to see. The whole area had a really good feeling and vibe to it - even though it was cold, there were still so many people out.
Today we are going to La Boca which is another 'barrio' of Bs As. It is a poorer area, but the buildings are supposed to be awesome - all really colorful and odd shapes. Later tonight we are going to a drum show - La Bamba de Tiempo. It was recommended to us by a few different people - it isnt very touristy and supposed to be amazing.
I cant belive we leave Wed morning - only 2 days left of our South America trip! Ahhhh
Love, Kimmy
