Iceland

Leaving Halifax was interesting. I generally have issues with our travel agent in Yemen. They do some funky things regarding bookings and this was no different. The ticket agent said she has been doing the job for 30 years and was never so confused. It looked as though I was not going to get to Frankfurt so I was jokingly giving her a hard time and she replied “Bite me” in a joking fashion. I think she must have been 60. So alas after 90 minutes and 2 supervisors later I made it.

Now that I know people actually read this blog I have decided to write more bullshit than ever.

I met a couple of 22 year old Icelandic supermodel twins my first night and we flew in my Brazilian supermodel girlfriend...

With the currency collaspe Iceland is trying to bill itself as a low cost tourist destination. Low cost compared to space travel perhaps. Expensive as hell. I paid 22 dollars for a small bowl of soup last night. Groceries seem to resonably priced. Fruit and berries are about the price in Canada when they are off season.

I fell asleep last night at 12:30 and it was still fairly bright out. Never really gets dark.

I went whale watching today. After spending about 3 billion Canadian dollars I saw few minkes. The seas were really choppy so between trying to avoid taking a dip in the N. Atlantic and the whales only surfacing only for a few seconds I took some great pictures of some waves.

Thankfully I am not prone to seasickness. There were about 10 people barfing in a vociferous fashion.

I have some insight into my buddy Eric’s personality. I use to think he was weird because of all the drugs he did in the 70’s but I think it is his Icelandic roots. Check out the picture of the napkin that was on Icelandic Air. I have no idea what it means. There is also a restuarant around the corner that brags about all the famous people that have not visited the place. The most famous being Bill Clinton.

I really don’t mind hostels but I do have my moments. I am now sharing a room with 6 young lads from Luxembourg. One snores like a wildebeest and the room smells like a barn. It seems like there are 400 back packs here and because of jet lag, perpetual daylight and sharing a room with a snoring machine I am suffering from a lack of sleep and pretty much trip over a pack everytime I leave the room.
