On one of our morning game drives, we got to see something we had never seen before--an infant elephant crossing the road.
We had read in literature that if a baby elephant can walk under its mother stomach it is less that a year old.
One night we watched a Park video program while here about elephants and there was a scene showinga newborn elephant. They weigh about 175 lbs. at birth (I think that is correct) and are very wobbly on their feet.
Early one morning we were driving along and we saw some elephants crossing the road and then along came a tiny little elephant. It fell to its knees and the mother elephant had to help it up twice as it was crossing the road. Laura moaned and cried aloud for it!
What an amazing thing to see. Nature providing us things to appreciate!
