Day two Finse We got up at eight and had our breakfast, it was a nice morning and was very warm. We caught the ten to ten train to Finse. Once at Finse we found somewhere to drop off our bags and started walking up towards the Glacier. We walked about two hours through rocky barron terrain and over compacted snow until the path ended abruptly at a river gorge. The bridge had been swept away, so we walked down looking for a crossing, but found none. So we decided to wade across, I think we must of tried for almost an hour. But just ended up extremely cold and wet. The water was about 1C as it was melting straight from the glacier. We then walked all the way back up the stream and there was still no way across. So we just followed the stream all the way up to the other branch of the glacier. We finally got to it after about four hours after getting soaked and giving up on all the paths. The glacier was just one huge cliff of ice and snow and had several stream flowing out. We had a short break up at the Glacier and had a snack before heading back down. On the way back we just went straight towards Finse and gave up on all the paths. This took us to the edge of a cliff. We walked along the top for a while until we found a large snow bank pilled against it. We then decided to half walk half ski down it. On the final stretch back we saw some tarmagin and a Lemming, but just as I took a picture it ran away under some ice. As we walked back it started to rain, but unfortunatly we had left our coats in the bags in the station, so we got soaked. The walk back only took two hours as we took so many short-cuts. Once we got back to Finse we cooked our late lunch and booked our train. The train journey took four hours but was very comftable. All of the Norwigen trains have been very nice, the seats all have ajustable head rests can recline and have fold out tables. Once we got to Oslo we remembered that we only had the name of the hostel not the address. So we spent an hours looking for it. By which time it was too late to book in, so we asked a taxi to take us to the biggest youth hostel thats nearby. Once we got there it was midnight and it said on the door it closed at 11:00. But luckily it was still open and we managed to get a room for the night. We have one American with us from Pheanix Arosona, and one person from Switzerland. Its nice and warm here in Oslo, but there is thunder and lighting at the moment.
