After a 24 bus ride from Salta, we arrived in Puerto Iguazu Monday afternoon. The bus was long - but the seats reclined, they played english movies and we got fed so it wasnt that bad. By the time we got to our hostel and checked in it was too late to go to the falls, so we just decided to get up early the next day and go the whole day before our night bus to Buenos Aires. The hostel we stayed at was really nice...it was huge! They had a hgue dinner for everyone - 30 pesos and it was all you can eat salad bar (which was so refreshing! and meat) plus a tango show!
The next morning we caught the 830 bus to Iguazu Falls, which was only about 10 minutes away. There is an island you can take a boat out to for free, but the water was really high that day so we couldnt get out there. We decided to just spend the money and do one of the trips they reccommend. We booked 2 different boat rides - one literally went under the falls where we got soaking wet, but it was amazing!!Definitely worth it! The second one was an ecological tour at the end, which floated at the top of the falls, where the water was calm. We saw 2 crocodiles and a few monkeys which were neat!
The falls were absolutely amazing! They are so huge and powerful. There are two different trails you can walk - the upper and the lower. We did both to get the different views. The upper trail was really neat, because you basically walk on bridges that are going over the tops of the waterfalls. There are so many of them, it was gorgeous to be level with them looking down at all the water. Right across from the falls is Brazil - on our boat tour we were basically in Brazil! The lower trail was awesome too - it was a completely different view. You are basically at the bottom of the falls, so there is mist everywhere and once again we got soaking. There were so many rainbows too, which was really pretty.
We literally didnt put our cameras away - every sight was so gorgeous! It is a huge national park too, so all the trails are through the trees and plants. The waterfalls are about 80m high, much taller than Niagra! Once again - excited to show pictures!
