My Biggest Problem Right Now

2009-07-02, Grana, Nicaragua

One of the things that I like about traveling is that life here seems to move at a slower, better pace. You don´t have much stress, there´s not much to worry about, and you basically get to do whatever you want (within reason) without having to feel guilty about it.

For instance, my biggest problem right now is trying to figure out what I want to do tomorrow. The choices? Head to Costa Rica. Spend another day walking around the town we arrived in today, Granada, which is a beautiful colonial town on Lake Nicaragua. Or head over to a lagoon 45 minutes away which is supposed to be paradise on earth.

We spent last night in a cabana at a deserted resort on Lake Nicaragua. For 20 US dollars total, the 3 of us shared a room with a private bathroom about 15 steps from the lake. We ate dinner there after a swim, watching the lightning play over the twin volcanoes. We went to bed, only to wake up and go for an early morning swim before heading in to town. We ended up eating breakfast at Yogi´s Cafe, run by a guy from Canada who had more than one interesting story to tell about smoking pot while going up volcanoes. Go figure.

Got to go. More to come.
