Entry Six Friday afternoon
The wheelchair part is in Customs now. They say that on Monday an engineer from the Melodia company can come to our hotel and install it. I hope that is true. I can’t believe we have made it through five days of treatments here. Ian had 8 injections in his upper back muscles as well as injections intraveneously. His face maintains color and a fairly calm expression as he gets them. The doctor continuously asks him how he is doing. He says fine. The doctor never asks me, but if he did, I would say that I am a bit queasy, but hanging in there. It is not comfortable to watch.
At physical therapy Mae worked with Ian on swallowing exercises. I love the Latin American style of the therapist blowing kisses and giving hugs to the patient. Tomorrow we are planning to go down to the beach, the Pacific side. We are going to take a boat down a river where the guide feeds crocodiles. It sounds exciting and scary and like just the kind of diversion we need.
