Inky Dinky

Reading the title of this entry, probably about 4, maybe 5 of you will have any idea what the heck I am talking about. But I'll explain :)

When Matt, Julie and I were little, Mom would always sing us a song called "Inky Dinky", as a lullaby to get us to go to sleep. It's a simple, but unique song, but I remember every word (Sidenote: a lot of it is gibberish): "Inky Dinky, bubbalinky, close your little eyes... the sandman's going to take you on a trip to paradise. Hurry to sleep, now.... Your toys will keep, now..... Until the morning sun comes shining through... Angels will fly by.... as you go night-night... Just because they want to know if you're an angel too..."
But for some reason, that would calm us (or at least me) down everytime it was sang. Well tonight, I took care of Baby A for the first time. The ages range from 3 weeks to probably around 7 months. And after feeding and bathing 5 of them, 3 went right to sleep, but 2 (Emily, a 6 week old, and Fred, a 4 week old) were wailing. So what did I do? Rock them and sing Inky Dinky. Works every time. So I just wanted to say thanks mom, for putting the babies to sleep tonight :)

Well going back in time, this morning I had laundry duty. And I don't think I've ever hung up so much laundry in my life..... but really, combining all my years, I STILL don't think I've even dried that much laundry as we did in one day. Haha, with 55 babies, comes billions of dirty clothes (yeah, I think I did that math right...)
But after finally getting things hung up around noon, I helped out with Baby B for lunch time. Right after lunch time, all of a sudden we heard a CRACK of thunder, and within seconds, here comes TONS of rain!!! These drops were the biggest, wettest, and hardest raindrops I've ever SEEN! (later, I tried to take a couple pictures and put them up, but to get outside, tons of water was coming in and getting on my camera. But I did catch a tiny glimpse.) But of course, the next thought on my mind was: "ALL THE LAUNDRY ON THE LINES!!!"
So 4 of us raced down the stairs and out in the monsoon to rescue- or attempt to rescue- the almost dry clothes.
We failed miserably.
Haha but the laughter of everyone helping and the huge African rain drops refreshed us all and we were set for the day. I'm now convinced one never grows too old to play in the rain :)

After lunch, I did some reading (I'm reading Shane Claiborne's Irrisistable Revolution book, and it started out slow, but now I'm loving what he has to say.- I reccommend reading it!) and relaxed with the girls. Since we started doing outings every Monday Wednesday and Friday, today- obviously- was an outing day. And it was baby B's turn!!! So ofcourse, Luke and I went on a walk :) We walked about 10 minutes down to Lake Victoria and just took everything in, the people, the goats, the cows, the trees, the red dirt, and of course- the lake. Sometime before we leave, I'll have to take some pictures! Lake Victoria is the largest lake in all of Africa, and part of it is the source of the Nile. So it's pretty impressive. But I just loved getting to hang out with Luke for about an hour.

Once we were back it was about dinner time, so I headed down to Baby A. The mama that's in there, her name is Carolynn. She's such a sweet woman! She absolutely loves these babies and is so great with them. One time when I had Max, another little one, he wouldn't stop crying (this was before Inky Dinky popped into my head :D ), no matter what I did. So mama Carolynn said "here here, jangu", so I handed him to her. I swear, the INSTANT that child was in her arms, he was absolutely silent. She's a wonderful woman, and I'm glad that Amani has people that care for the children with all their heart as much as she does.

So after the Inky-Dinky's, we hit the lights and headed upstairs. And here I sit :) Tomorrow is Saturday, and if the driver will let me, I'll go with the girls who are bungee jumping to take pictures. You know, moral support!
Haha I have the guts to do a lot of things.... but bungee jumping is not one of them. So I'll leave that to Ash, Mallory, and Grace.

Well that's all for tonight, I'll let you kow what happens tomorrow.

God is great. I hope you're all enjoying the beauty of the day He's given you, as much as I am.

Love,

Linds
