Hello everyone!
Well, after around 40 hours of traveling and 2 creepy men later, we finally arrived at the Entebbe airport in Uganda last night around 12:00am. Supposed to arrive at 8:15, our flight ended up having to make a random stop in Ethiopia to "drop off some parts"(.....!?) and we ended up being grounded there for almost 2 hours. Haha... at this point we only had 2 hours LEFT in our trip and were seriously eager to get to Entebbe, so you can imagine how pleasant everyone on the plane was. :)
But nevertheless, we got here! The orphanage's trusted driver came and picked us up- poor guy, he had been there for 4 hours waiting!- and we took off on about a 2 hour drive to where we would be living for the next 3 weeks, Jinja, Uganda.
We pulled up to a locked gate, where a guard let us into the beautiful- but dark- orphanage grounds. Another girl volunteer from Austrailia named Charlie welcomed us inside the gues house and we got introduced to the quiet, completely open, and gecko-filled house. Ashley sleeps on one of the top bunks, and Ash kindly let me have one of the top bunks. Thanks Ash :)
We tucked ourselves into our mosquito nets, and gratefully hit the sack.
So we woke up this morning around 10am and were wonderfully surprised to see the beautiful orphanage! There are many kids and beautiful trees and land. We're still just getting things together here in the room, and then we will meet everyone else, including Siouxanne, the head administrator here and we'll head to town to exchange our money and buy a few things for dinners at about 2:00.
God is faithful, and we made it. We're excited to see why we're here!
Internet is stable, so I'll try to update this as much as possible during the little time we have off.
