Road trip to Santa Fe with Sheryl and another new gallery placement

Sheryl and I took my minivan on a road trip to Santa Fe to sell at the Tesuque Pueblo Flea Market, which is very upscale with a lot of fine art being sold by the actual artists. I have never seen a similar quality in another flea market around the world. We stayed with my friends Angie, Ben, Isiaac, and Micaela’s house. Again it seemed like the slow economy was affecting the number of vendors in the market and certainly the number of visitors was down. Friday we were in a section with hardly any vendors so it was a ghost town. We moved spots for Saturday and Sunday to my favorite row A/B where we shared a space with a guy named Gary who sells his own spicy sauces… a fiery Serrano raspberry sauce, peach habenaro, and a delicious, chutney which was our favorite.

The show was much slower than usual but a rock hound-friend from my tour of rock and mineral shows showed up and brought her sister to my booth. Her sister Lonnie owns a gallery called Adorned by Lonnie in Greensboro, North Carolina. She loved my stuff so she ended up picking out a bunch for her store. Thanks to her purchases and another wholesale account I made a decent amount on the trip. Sheryl was trying to sell some of the accessories from her store Wine Complements… I don’t think it was a good fit for her, as she did not sell much. I think it was still a little early in the season for the flea market. Just as we were almost packed up the rain came pouring down and drenched what was still in our booth. We were so lucky it did not do that in the middle of the show as was predicted. We found out the hard way (though it could have been much worse) that our booth was not really a water-proof or even water resistant space. I knew it was a risk when we took the space as the roof was really high and the sides were not protected or covered. Having been caught in many serious rain storms out there… I knew what was possible.
