Woke up around noon I think all the walking yesterday due to difficult transportation people means that I go to sleep early and sleep the ENTIRE night until noon the next morning (okay afternoon). We get up and get ready and head straight for the Van Gogh museum. Which was fantastic. They are having a special exhibition called "Colors of the Night" which basically means Van Gogh Museum got to steal paintings from Musee d'Orsay, Modern Art Museum New York and other various museums to throw them altogether so that Allison Kristiana and I can see them all in one spot.
We went through the exhibition and saw some fantastic paintings along with "Starry Night" at the end (althought the first starry night was more of my favorite) it was nice to find out that Van Gogh never really thought Starry Night was anything special and he didn't even really like it. Way to go Vincent.
I also thought it was interesting that he painted blossom trees for the sole purpose of trying to sell them, not for any other reason. Way to succumb to peer pressure.
Walked around and shopped for a while bought some adorable dresses and found out that Rijksmuseum is closed partially for rennovations. But no worries, the sign says, the Night Watch will be fully visible (which that is one of the reasons I'm going in there anyway) So perhaps a little Vermeer and Rembrandt will brighten our day tomorrow..
Took some fun pictures by the I Amsterdam sign. I crawled up to the "T" and Kristiana and I sat on both sides for a cute picture.
I crawled into the "S" with great agility and after I slid down I bumped my head on the side of the "T". Great agility, Kat.
Bought an adorable purple leather wallet with a teal inside from Sticks and Stones and I'm in love with it. I'll send my dresses and wallet home along with anything else I accumulate on the trip here in Amsterdam since everyone nicely speaks English.
Probably go out to the Dutch movies tonight. Or maybe just walk around Westerpark until the sun goes down. You never know.
