The boys have been promised a little boat to play in. They have their eyes on the 'Miami-Vice' style power boat of Captain Nikos infront of the Fanay taverna with the linen tablecloths and napkins. (Maurice wants to dine here every night!. They were a little non-plussed when they were shown the half-submerged rowing boat infront of the long defunct palmolive soap factory at the far end of the bay. They were told it was their's for their stay if they pump out the water and paint it.
With buckets and brushes and much furry mumblings (under thier breath) they set to work. One little problem-Maurice doesn't like to get his paws wet and spends more time running up and down the shingles chasing the butterflies; Vladamir, more surprisingly, has taken to the water...well..rather like.."a cat to water" (new expression) and mopped up and painted the hull a bright lime green hue. Maurice then joined in, prefering to use his tail to slap colour rather hap hazardly on. Very Jackson Pollock!! Very colourful Meercat! A very colourful meercat with bright orange tail! Vladamir has been splashed with colour too..an orange and lime green polka dotted pussy cat! The boys will really stand out now, as if they didn't already!
- Vladamir is now turning his hand (paw) to swimming and diving. He is an enterprising young man. He plans now to dive for his supper. He doesn't like the sea urchins but he has his eye on the little fishes. I've left him swimming in the aqua water-crystal clear- a happy albeit rather strange pussy cat. Maurice, when I last looked was basking in the sun, his tail twitching keeping the flies off, red fez perched over one eye.I think they may well be settling into island life. I may be able to relax. - I know they plan to take their boat out soon..and that may be a different story.
