After a nice relaxing night at the Bangphli Palace hotel I checked out to make my way to Hua Hin. First I went to visit the 175 year old market in Bangphli. There is a beautiful temple there too which is well worth a visit. The market is on the river with lots of old antique shops.
Now it's time to continue, so I got a taxi to take me to the closest sky train station which is On Nut, got my ticket and headed to the stop called Victory Monument. This is where you can get a mini van that goes to Hua Hin. The fare for the journey is 200 baht, and only takes about two and a half hours.I am sure the drivers are formula one try hards. Good thing is the mini vans are air conditioned and of course it's cheap. They make a pee stop half way but you have to be quick and try to keep an eye on which van your in.These vans leave every 15 minutes so no need to book.
Another way to get to Hua Hin cheap is to go by train. Once you are on the sky train system it's really easy to get around Bangkok. Make your way to Hualumpong train station go to the ticket office get your ticket and your on your way. Some tips to remember, train is third class only so it's wooden seats(thats if your lucky enough to get a seat). No air conditioning and it can take about 5 hours to get there. However, if your traveling Thailand cheap the fare is only 50 baht!!.
Getting into Hua Hin is great, it is my favorite place, the van stops at a few places first like Cha Am.Then next stop Hua Hin.Remember where the van stops, it's not far from the night market and this is where you catch the van for the return journey.
OK so now I head down towards the ocean, I decided to check out a guesthouse that I had heard about from another traveler, called Top Marks. It turned out to be quite a nice place, very clean very comfortable and very helpful staff. It's just back a bit from the busy area (5 mins walk). I booked in for three nights and at 800 baht per night was well worth the peaceful stay. So thats it, I am in Hua Hin, the sun is shining, people are smiling everywhere and I am ready for a good time.
Part 3 to follow very soon.
