Yes at last, I am off to Thailand again.
The short journey from my house in Adelaide to our airport only takes about half an hour.My holiday starts as I close my front door.
A quick tearful bye bye to my wife and daughter and off I go.
No suitcases for me as I travel all around so its just a small backpack.
I am sure my backpack knows it's own way, it's been back and forth so many times.
Once through to the departure lounge I get the first glimpse of the huge 777 that will take me to Bangkok via Singapore.
Not a long flight, about six to seven hours has me on the tarmac in Singapore. The flight goes really quick, just have time for a feed then a film then the decent.
Transit time is about two to three hours, I quite enjoy this little break wandering around the duty free shops.
Then it's up up and away again, a short flight of about two hours and I land in Bangkok, capitol city of the land of smiles.
Flights from Adelaide always arrive in Bangkok quite late in the evening.
I prefer to find a hotel close to the airport where I can relax for the evening, shake off the small jet lag, and prepare myself for the following trip.
I travel by taxi to an area called Bangphli, there is a great hotel there, very comfortable, cheap with a nice swimming pool.I have a late night snack, and maybe a swim then off to bed.
This is part 1 of my "Traveling Thailand Cheap" journal.
