Friday 6th January
Well the time to go has finally come, it has been a frustrating start to our adventure because it’s taken Nissan a month to work out that my injector pump was US and have it rebuilt and reinstalled, than a little hiccup with the local mechanic swapping vacuum hoses and causing the engine light to come on. This was sorted pretty quickly with another trip to Nissan Brookevale.
The van and car are both packed, with the van being moved out of the yard, all we’ve got to do now is cut the lawn and we’re off Harrington.
Arrived at Hartington about 2:30pm, our site was right next to the amenities and pool we set up the van and went for a walk through Harrington came back and had a swim got changed and went to the bowling club for dinner and some very good music. Saturday we had a pretty lazy day hanging around the pool going for walks a bit of fishing and generally doing very little
Sunday, packed up early and set of for Nambucca, a funny thing happened on the way to Nambucca, our left hand side wheel fell off the caravan, called the NRMA got the wheel back on and limped into Nambucca set up the van and visited moe and Larraine, had a delightful dinner with them.
Monday, organized for the caravan builder to replace all the necessary bits and pieces, this took most of the day, during all the phone calls we visited Clem and Jo and had lunch with them at the Star Hotel in Macksville which is on the upper levels of the Nambucca River.
Nambucca is a wonderful area it’s a great place to be stuck, the Aboriginal name is Ngumbar BuggarBuggar.!!!!We thought this was appropriate, Tez said a few buggar, buggars when the wheel fell off.!!!
While waiting for repairs to be carried out, we’ve had the time to look around this time we’ve seen Nambucca through different eyes, the people, the river and the general areas are great, we’ve found beaches we didn’t know existed, we’ve pumped for nippers, searched for beach worms (yet to be found), fished, swum often had another dinner with Moe and Lorraine, but this time they surprised Glenda by inviting her kinder teacher, Mrs. Curthers to dinner. We had dinner with Clem and Jo again and have generally unwound.
It has been very hot, and on these days we, along with some koori kids and others, sit in the river and cool down. It occurred to me these kids should have been at school, but then who wants to sit listening to a boring teacher in the heat, yes, the river is the intelligent place to be.
We’ll most likely be here for another week (the required parts were only loaded on a truck this weekend) and we’re not sure when they will get here, Glenda has rung Kerrie Swan, and we’ll more than likely meet up with them this week. Caravanning is a wonderful life, so relaxing, we urge all who can to take on the challenge, it is the adventure and experience of a lifetime that no Aussie should miss.
