My life as a Metaphor

At the time of my last post I was happy to say that I was doing well compared to many on the team. Well, unfortunately for me, that all changed. My health has swirled down the toilet rapidly. For the past 3 days I have gone from bad to worse. Although, saying that I assume that anyone reading this will assume the worst. No, I do not have malaria...yet. I have had a terrible head cold that has kept me from getting a good night sleep. I have had a very upset stomach which keeps me within a few strides of the bathroom at all times. I believe today, if I estimate correctly, I have used the bathroom facilities approximately 20 times. Ah, so now that you know all about my lovely issues, I can tell more stories. Because of our teams deteriorating health, the last few days have been pretty low key and easy going. This has been a blessing of tremendous proportions. I have woken up often during the past few nights hacking, heaving or running to the washroom. In some ways this has created some entertainment for the rest of the team. Despite my desperate state, I have been able to maintain a cheerful attitude.

I am scatterbrained right now, I apologize. It is 3am and I am exhausted. The team is leaving in a few hours. Some have decided to pull an all-nighter to avoid only getting 2 or 3 hours of sleep. Sam and I have yet to figure out what we will be doing for the next 3 weeks which has given me plenty of anxiety. I am starting to get better which is making my mood perk up, making me excited for the adventure ahead. I am becoming more and more excited for Kyle to join us. I am curious to see how Kyle will adapt to this environment.

I should go, I am tired. Lack of sleep and me, a sick child, do not mix well.

p.s. this week the expensive camera I borrowed from my beloved friend Jeff Penner was misplaced/stolen...RIP D40

p.p.s. We went to the source of the Nile today.

Next entry: chapatis and samosas
