On Monday night, we were invited to a dinner at Carlos Mejia Godoy's restaurant in Managua (Carlos Godoy is a very famous Nicaraguan singer). We met Sergio Ramirez, famous Nicaraguan author. He spoke to us for about an hour & answered our many questions about his books, his creative process, & his thoughts about present-day Nicaragua. I was fortunate enough to be sitting with him at his table for dinner!
He also signed my copy of "To Bury Our Fathers". It reads - To Jessie, con mi carino, Sergio 2008". I was walking on cloud 9!
Tuesday, the 7 other GSLIS students left to go back to the states. It was really sad to see them go & I think I made some friends for life.
Jessica & I are staying on for 6 more days, to conduct research & assist Jane.
