I was told my friends that Ayuthya is holy place with lots of temple. Earlier to BAngkok, Ayuthya was the capital of Thailand/Siam
It is a regular custom among locals (normally senior people) to visit Ayuthya and take blessing from maximum temples out there.
Most of the temples are maintained well, however there are ruins too.
It is good train journey from Bangkok to Ayuthya and later tuk-tuk journey.
Luckily we got a local family who were very nice and we shared the tuk-tuk. It actually helped us to reduce the overall journey cost in tuk-tuk.
Ayuthya can be visited by boat from Bangkok, but I wanted to see the train life in Bangkok with local people. The trip to Ayuthya and back can be done in one day.
