Today I took the Indian Pacific Railway from Adelaide across the whole of South Australia to Sydney. The train starts off in Perth but i joined it on Tuesday morning in Adelaide and arrived in Sydney on Wednesday morning, 24 hours later. The entire track is 4352 kilometres long, and includes the longest straight section of track in the world.
It was a really interesting journey!
The train was big and spacious, with a dining car and big airline seats to sleep in. The views were pretty simple and repetitive - red dirt and brush for mile after mile. We stopped off for a couple of hours in Broken Hill, just over the border into New South Wales, but apart from that the journey was continuous the whole way.
We arrived in Central Station in Sydney and I went off to find my Youth Hostel...
