Mendoza is famous for its wine and olives. The best way too see it is to hire a bike and do your own tour of the vineyards and olive groves and, obviously, sample a broad cross section of the available produce. Those bikes get strangely more unstable as the day goes on but at least you don't care anymore that the gears are broken. We had a fantastic day.
We stayed in 2 different hotels in Mendoza. The first one I chose and the second one was Karen's choice (as was eating in a restaurant just because they had penguin shaped wine pitchers). You might be able to spot the difference from the pictures. I don't know what was so wrong with mine, although the words 'scag den' do spring to mind. The second hotel was us pushing the boat out for a change. It was a welcome relief from the budget places we seem to have lived in for the best part of a year. (I am not including Karen's parents' in that list but I am including Damo's place!)
