Chiang Rai is lovely! It's much more like I remember Chiang Mai to be and it was even prettier because they've got all the decorations up for new year! We organised a trek in this area and we got a very good deal because we were the only two on the trek!! We did elephant riding (I got to sit on the elephants back) and lots of walking!! We visited a few different villages and was surprised to learn that the majority of people and christian and not buddist but they were all very friendly especially the family we stayed with. It was the teachers family and his house was bigger than most in the village and they had a TV and a computer! The following day we went to a lovely waterfall and had lunch there, expertly made by our guide and he even made us bowls and cutlery from bamboo!!! I think we could have stayed longer in Chiang Rai, we both liked it a lot but Laos was calling us!!
