Just a long drive from Sydney to Coffs Harbour, took us nearly 7 hours, it was only last week when Coffs Harbour was flooded with all the rainfall they have had, but fortunately for us at the moment its dry.
We left Coffs Harbour for Brisbane, but not until I’d got a photo of the ‘Big Banana’. When we reached Brisbane is was quite late, so we settled into our room before going to have a look round, we had been recommended a couple of restaurants in an area called West End, which was quite reasonable. I don’t know whether it was the area we were in or the fact that is was a Sunday and Easter Sunday at that it was very, very quite, but at least we managed to have a little look round.
Picking up the Apollo Camper Van in Brisbane, was an experience to be missed, we arrived at 9.30am and our van should have been ready for us to collect am 9am, we waited an hour to be served, which I suppose on a Bank Holiday Monday is probably acceptable, but having to wait a further 4½ hours for the van to be ready is really totally unacceptable, they offered to refund us ½ a days hire, but they cant refund on the time we have lost on our holiday, which means when we get to our next destination, which is Hervey Bay, we will have less time to look around, or again only really be able to look around in the dark!!
When we got to Hervey Bay we found a very nice campsite, run by a very nice American Lady right next to the Harbour, which was very welcome after the journey we had had. When it came to setting up the beds for the night a slight problem, most of the cushions were soaked through with no chance of drying them, so we had to swap them round so we could at least get some sort of sleep,
