Spent Thursday & Friday in Tartu, which was all very pleasant. It reminded me of Olsztyn in Poland, only not quite as pretty (anything plant-like is waiting to come back to life at the moment, so can't really judge the parks).
The city has lots of old (but very colourful) wooden houses, some of which are ramshakle affairs crowded along dirt tracks, complete with winding, dusty gardens.
On Thursday evening I went to the cavernous beer hall/cellar place, where we were treated to a band playing country music and got to watch the locals compete in a hanging onto a mechanical bull contest (I forget the proper name for it). Good wholesome fun. Needless to say, I was happy just to watch.
