I still don’t know if I will mail my jewelry or bring it on the plane. Both have big risks of loss. On the plane I would be forced to put a lot of the jewelry in my checked bags as they only allow 5 kilo in your carry on bag. Last time they took some of my jewelry away at the third security inspection at the gate in Bali and checked it in a small backpack, I was very nervous that it would just disappear. They always say not to check valuables. If I mail it in small boxes via DHL I won’t have to hire a customs broker and wait days for it to clear customs, which last year was a major nightmare… but any of the boxes could also easily be lost. It is also more expensive this way. Decisions decisions… all of these unknowns and risks make me nervous.
I found a dental clinic here in Sayan near to Ubud and it is wonderful, hi-tech, clean, digital laser x-rays, digital cameras and a monitor so the dentist can show you before and after photos as she works. I got my teeth cleaned with some new air-flow treatment (felt like being sandblasted with toothpaste), had x-rays taken, had three surface fissure treatments (preventative maintenance) all for about $140. A root canal is only $80. They use white composite or porcelan fillings. I had wanted to check out dentistry here in Bali but had been told by another dentist that I needed to go into the capital of Denpasar and I just had not gotten around to it as it is busy, crowded and chaotic in Denpassar. I won’t ride my motorcycle to or in Denpassar.
